These were a special issue for Ionian Islands made by Mussolini, in order to take them over after the end of the WW2. The citizens of the islands didn't accept them with satisfaction. The start of circulation was in the spring of 1943 and the end in September of 1943. The Greek state never exchanged them with drachmas.
